HAP   2001
aka KJAMMS

made for Atónal Hóppurin, Reykjavík
Concept and image  Mendel Hardeman
Music  Áki Ásgeirsson
Original Format  multimedia puppet play with live music

My most hilarious performance to date. Main characters are Adam, Eve, the Apple and God. All of them except for God (a hand puppet which the music conductor uses to direct the orchestra) are quite violently born from the Original Vagina. Soon the serpent comes in to seduce Eve, who is then heavily punished by God and Adam. The piece ends with a sad but liberated Adam, hanging over the smouldering remains of his beloved but sinful wife.

The first performance, with Átonal Hóppurin playing in Kópavogur, Iceland, was interrupted halfway due to an accident with the puppets causing fire on stage - read the Morgunblaðid review
(sorry, it's in Icelandic). The piece was performed again in its entirety a year later, with a bit more care, and this formed the basis for the the short video I made out of it.
